Retro LIFE Magazine

Nico, (born Christa Paffgen) was a popular fashion model and later lead singer of the The Velvet Underground.  She was photographed in 1960 for LIFE in the apartment  of Parisian interior designer Henry Samuel.

  1. These photos are simply amazing! I wish we had even one-tenth of the style they had back then…
    I am a painter, and although I work in all sorts of subject matter, one of my main passions is painting women’s hats, from the Depression era right through the Kennedy years. It seems to me that there was once a time when clothing and decor was much more stylized…and imaginative.
